Real estate success isn’t just about closing deals or reaching financial milestones—it’s about the relationships you build along the way. That’s something I’ve come to realize over the years, and it was reinforced during a recent conversation I had with Erin Bradley, a real estate coach and owner of Pursuing Freedom, on my podcast.

During that episode, Erin shared how adopting a “go-giver” mindset and focusing on authentic connections can drive long-term success in business.

Here, I share the key takeaways from our conversation with you!

The Power of the Go-Giver Mindset

Early in her career journey, Erin struggled with the “go-getter” mentality. While it can be effective, the constant push to close deals and make money left her feeling drained and disconnected.

That’s when she adopted the “go-giver” philosophy, which encourages you to give more in value than you receive in payment. This is also a foundational principle upheld at Pursuing Freedom.

Rather than focusing on how much she could sell or how many clients she could sign, Erin shifted her mindset to think about how much value she could offer to others without expecting anything in return. This approach completely transformed her business.

When you give more than you take, you build trust. And, trust leads to long-term relationships!

Building Real Connections Beyond Transactions

Erin recognized that real estate is an opportunity to be a valuable resource in people's lives. So, she took a unique step: she built a comprehensive referral network that wasn’t just focused on real estate services.

Erin started creating a directory of trusted professionals in various industries: financial services, contractors, home service providers, health and wellness experts, and more. She wanted her clients to think of her not just when they were buying or selling a home, but as someone who could connect them to trustworthy professionals for other needs in life.

Here’s how you can do it too:

1. Identify Needs: Think about the services your clients might need beyond real estate.

2. Build Your Network: Reach out to professionals in your community and form relationships with those who align with your values and standards.

3. Create a Referral List: Curate a list of trusted professionals who can add value to your clients’ lives.

4. Stay Connected: Keep the communication open with both your clients and your network. Stay present in their lives and maintain authentic relationships.

Energy and Mindset: Secret Ingredients to Sustainable Growth

Erin explained how shifting from a “me-first” attitude to a “how can I help?” mentality not only made her work more enjoyable but also led to more fruitful connections.

Erin practices self-awareness and takes time to ensure she’s bringing the right energy to her interactions. Here’s how she does it:

  • Personal Growth - Erin invests in herself regularly, making sure she stays mentally and emotionally grounded.

  • Staying Positive - She focuses on maintaining a positive mindset, even during tough times.

  • Practicing Self-Care - Erin takes care of her physical and mental health to stay energized.

  • Curiosity - Instead of worrying about what she can gain, Erin approaches conversations with curiosity and a desire to help.

When you’re in the right mindset, opportunities find you. You no longer have to chase them, but they come naturally as a result of the energy you put into the world.

Dealing with Difficult Clients and Building an Authentic Network

Not every client is a good fit, and Erin acknowledges that. In fact, she has a process for handling situations where a client just doesn’t vibe with her.

Erin’s philosophy is simple: if a client isn’t a good fit, she refers them to someone who might be.

She nurtures relationships with clients and partners who align with her values. Those relationships grow and flourish. On the other hand, she doesn’t hesitate to cut energy-draining connections.

The Role of Coaching in Business Success

Erin believes in investing in herself, which has helped her grow both personally and professionally. Whether it's working with coaches, joining mastermind groups, or surrounding herself with like-minded individuals, Erin’s focus on continual growth has been a key factor in her success.

When you invest in yourself, you’re investing in your business. That trust you build with yourself is reflected in how others trust you, and it’s something Erin emphasizes in her coaching program.
