Americana on a grand scale! Piedmont is a seriously community-oriented community on par with Hillsborough, Atherton, Ross, or Tiburon – and the people who live here love it.
Developed during the late 19th century, Piedmont was known as “The City of Millionaires” when it emerged as the tony location for the manions of the burgeoning barons of Bay Area industry. Completely surrounded by the City of Oakland, Piedmont is a refined “city within a city,” and home to some of the Bay Area’s most prominent citizens (alive and dead).
Today, these palatial homes, built on a grand scale, exist much as they did at the turn of the 20th century - but with much better technology. There are pockets of more modest homes in the area, but expect to pay a premium price for the Piedmont School District.
