BIRD SPIRITS - NEW WORK BY MARK LEWIS WAGNER

POSTPONED

Join me in welcoming internationally renowned Oakland-based illustrator and conceptual artist, Mark Lewis Wagner. Through a variety of mediums, Wagner’s visionary art offers a window into the psychology of imagery, mythology, and shamanism, all deeply rooted in the tradition of visual storytelling.

His latest work “BIRD SPIRITS” explores the mark-making and the symbolism of the winged ones. “I practice mindfulness while working on these pieces – to only create them when I’m in a positive, loving, higher-power place. My pieces feel like prayers, and act as medicine for the world.”

Wagner’s extensive body of work includes collaborations with Pixar/Disney, the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, SpaceX, Target, the Oakland Museum, and the Oakland Zoo. He is the founder and creative director of Drawing on Earth, a non-profit art organization whose mission is connecting art and creativity with youth and communities around the world. Their first project set a Guinness World Record for the largest chalk drawing on Earth.

Several of his works have been photographed by satellite, including a “drawing” at Burning Man he created using a garden trowel. When he’s not teaching art at Chabot College, he’s building his artist studio in northern New Mexico.

Refreshments & libations, with musical entertainment by ULTRA TWO - featuring Eric Lenchner & John Seabury.

RSVP and let us know you're coming!
